If you're seeking an authentic Sicilian culinary adventure, look no further than Le Pietre, nestled in the stunning hills of Gallodoro. This restaurant offers a unique dining experience focused on fresh, local ingredients and abundant servings. What sets Le Pietre apart is the absence of a traditional menu; instead, patrons are treated to a delightful parade of dishes — ten appetizers, two types of pasta, and grilled meats — all designed to showcase the best of Sicilian flavors.
As many reviews highlight, the journey to Le Pietre is half the adventure, although navigating the roads can be challenging. Following the right route is crucial, as some paths lead to perilous terrain. However, once you arrive, the breathtaking sea views and warm hospitality, including the standout service from Giuseppe, make it all worthwhile.
Guests rave about the excellent house red wine and the overall value of the experience, typically priced around €30 per person. Whether it’s the generous portions or the enchanting atmosphere that captures your heart, Le Pietre promises a memorable dining escapade. Just remember: prepare to indulge and savor every moment!

Reviews for Le Pietre
Review highlights
Based on 529 reviewsLe Pietre is widely praised for its authentic Sicilian dining experience, featuring abundant, delicious dishes served in a no-menu, multi-course style. Guests appreciate the stunning mountain views overlooking the sea, which enhance the overall ambiance. The restaurant’s remote location requires careful navigation, as GPS directions can be misleading; visitors are advised to follow local signage via Gallodoro for the best route. While the access road is narrow, most reviewers agree the exceptional food and welcoming atmosphere make the journey worthwhile. The attentive service and genuine hospitality further contribute to a memorable visit, making Le Pietre a recommended destination for those seeking traditional Sicilian cuisine in a picturesque setting.
DO NOT LISTEN TO GOOGLE MAPS. Listen to the other reviewer. Drive to Gallodoro and follow the signs to drive to the front door of Le Peitre. I drove from Taormina and thought the suggestion to drive to Gallodoro was for time savings but it’s actually because the route google maps suggests you take is NOT A REAL ROAD. When you are 2.5km away on the Google maps route will turn to a dirt path and then quickly become narrow, steep, rocky, and crevassed and impossible to continue. We had to back up and thankfully had a point where we could turn the car around to drive back down the mountain. As for the food - totally mind blowing. Had no idea what to expect but it exceeded any possible expectations. Plan for a long lunch / dinner. No menu, ten appetizers, two pastas (macaroni and ravioli), and grilled meats. The house red wine is excellent. All the food is very fresh and local. Great value and a great experience!
Excellent place to get awesome and abundant food with astonishing view of the sea from the mountains. The road is a bit narrow but it is worth getting there! It Opens at 8.30pm so if you are early, get an aperitif in the nearby town.
So nice food and atmosphere! Ce very pleased of everything! Giuseppe is a real professional and a super nice person! Thank you! Best sicilian experience!
Great restaurant, absolutely recommended, but you need to be prepared that there is no menu. Basically they just keep bringing food to your table until you stop them We were not so hungry when we came, and there were so many appetizers we didn’t even make it to the main course. However, they were all delicious, so we didn’t mind at all. Also, the marker on the map was previously on the wrong spot (don’t know is fixed yet), the restaurant is a little further from the village, but still possible to walk, you just need to follow the road, can be around 10 minute walk from the sign. Recommended :) Credit cards accepted
Scouted this place out during our visit to Taormina - was a perfect place to stop for lunch on our way back from a day trip to Savoca. An authentic Sicilian experience - no menu, many courses, all for about €30/pp. An excellent experience. Plus beautiful views from the restaurant. Please note - Google maps may suggest a certain way up the mountain. Be sure take the Gallodoro way, the other way is a dangerous dirt road not suitable for cars. We miraculously made it that way, but at nighttime or in rainy weather we may not have had the same luck.
Wonderful Sicilian food in a surreal picturesque location. We watched sheep graze while we ate. No menu, they serve whatever they are making, and the food kept coming until we couldn't eat another bite. Grazie Giuseppe per il meraviglioso servizio!
Very nice Sicilian food, with many dishes to try and very good service! It’s such an experience. They ask you for food intolerances at the beginning and they start bringing food, so you better be hungry :D
A must visit if you are in the area. Kind staff, the owner Giuseppe is a real gem. Real Sicilian food at a great price. Go for the complete menu, at €25 you can’t go wrong. It is like eating at your grandmothers house. Generous portions. Good wine. A word of advice, make sure the GPS takes you through the town of Gallodoro and not up a country road up a hill. I will definitely pay a visit the next time I am in Taormina. Grazie Giuseppe!
